Paste text to see counts immediately. Characters count Unicode code points, while words count ASCII letter/digit/underscore runs and individual characters in U+3400–U+9FFF. This is not language-aware word segmentation.
How to use
1. Paste your textReplace the sample with the text you want to measure; counts update as you type.
2. Choose the relevant countUse characters for code-point length or lines for a list. Check the word-count rule before comparing with a writing app.
3. Copy the reportCopy the output to keep all seven counts alongside the text revision.
Compare draft lengths using the same counting rule.
Check the line count of a pasted list.
Edge cases
Spaces, tabs and line breaks all count as whitespace. A CRLF pair contains two whitespace characters but one line break.
Emoji sequences and accented letters made with combining marks can contain multiple code points. Arabic, kana and Hangul are not counted as words; accented Latin words can split into ASCII runs.
A final line break adds an empty line. Paragraphs are separated by consecutive line breaks; a line containing spaces does not act as an empty separator.
